Indeed, great news. It's the first almost complete working MMORPG opensourced, which can be nothing but good to the gaming community at large, whether they played the original Ryzom or not. Congrats.

I will, at the very least, start my 21 day trial on Ryzoom because of this. Thank you very much.

To be honest, I've been itching to get involved with a project of this nature. I've looked myself for some open source tools that I could use in terms of a multiple player graphical game, and trying to see what sorts of community development efforts could be created using these tools. It is a powerful tool whose potential has only started to be tapped.
I certainly want to be involved here, and I'm hoping that I can give back to this project too.

I had not heard of this game until the open source news. I've been toying with a lot of other engines, commercial and open source, but so far this one looks most promising. I am an old mudder since the early 90's that used to code a storm for many lpmuds, diku's, mucks, mudOS, etc..and have been looking to marry a good quality engine to the ideals of what muds used to be. I fell in love with the original idea of having wizards/gods creating in-game objects, quests and realms on the fly which is what i am working on trying to re-introduce. Thank you for sharing your engine.
